You may personalize the content of your Spotlightr videos using information you already have about your viewer or information gathered.

Use cases are infinite but few examples we foresee being most utilized are:

  • Welcoming viewers to a video with a personalized greeting

  • Using personalized data to offer custom content in the video

How to personalize a video

A new menu button has been added next to any field in Spotlightr that can be personalized. Opening it will bring up a list of predefined keys (like a variable) as well an option to create custom keys. Each provided key can also have a specified fallback value in case the key value is not provided for any reason.

But how do we get this data to replace the keys? There are two supported methods for providing the customer data.

  1. By connecting a Personalized Data Integration source, such as a CRM or auto-responder

  2. Via the URL query string parameters

Video overview of both methods

First you can check this simple video walk-trough of connecting and setting up personalized data in a Spotlightr.  This will demonstrate both methods.

Now we will get into more details on the 2 different ways you can use personalized info:

Personalized Data Integration

Storing data in one centralized resource is a common practice today in marketing. This is why we are enabling you to connect your CRM or Autoresponder and leverage connected data it in Spotlightr.

To connect to an integration you can simply select the integration from the Personalized Data option under Settings > Advanced Options.  This will be an integration you should have already set up.  If you have not set up any integrations yet, please see this article.

Once you select your integration you can provide a sample email with which to fetch the integration keys with.  Please note this is an email that should be an email that is in the system you chose.  So if you chose your Hubspot integration, the email you choose for the sample should be an email in your Hubspot data.  After you enter the email, click on "Test Integration" and it should return lots of data.  If it does you are all set and can click "Confirm".

To personalize the video for a particular contact after connecting the integration, the first thing you need to do is add the keys that you want to use.  For example, you may want to add the name and company to an overlay.  Just click on the 'personalization' icon and you can search for the desired key:

Choose the key value you want to add.  You can add multiple values.

Then, all you would need to do is provide their email to the URL of the Spotlightr page video.  When you do that, it will pick up all the data for that particular contact for your personalization keys.

The parameter for identifying a contact is always going to be:

And here in this screenshot you can see how the data from Intercom gets added to the personalized keys in Spotlightr:

But that's not all!

If the connected integration supports tacking events, we will forward the viewing data for that session back to the CRM / Autoresponder so that you can leverage it in further automation / segmentation efforts.

Here is a simple can send someone this URL: E-book

and by including custom 'customerName' and 'productName' keys in the your Spotlightr overlay you would get a personalized message.
