With Zapier you can 'connect' platforms that don't have a native integration with each. There are thousands of use-cases that Zapier can help with. In this article we'll show you how to use Zapier to send Circle invitations to your generated leads.
You can use Circle with Spotlightr in many different ways with Zapier. This article will review this single use-case, though similar steps can be used to accomplish other goals using Spotlightr, Circle and Zapier.
Here's a detailed video tutorial of this process: https://spotlightrteam.cdn.spotlightr.com/watch/MTkyNTQ0Ng==
Below we will review the high level steps to accomplish this. For more details please see the video above.
Create Video or Project
First you'll need to know which videos will be used for sending the Circle invitation. With our Zapier integration you can choose either a single video or all videos in the project. So it's important to know this before starting to build your Zap.
If you want to use a single video it will need to be created before the Zap. You can configure the opt-in form now too, but that can wait till later.
If using an entire project of videos then that project will need to be created first as well before the zap is created. Videos and optin forms can be added now or later.
Create 2-Step Zap
Configure Spotlightr as the Trigger event:
First we need to set up the trigger app which will be Spotlightr:
Trigger Event Setup
If not already connected to Spotlightr from Zapier, we'll need to use the API key in your Spotlightr account integrations tab to connect.
Copy your API key and then follow the steps to connect your account to Zapier.
Then choose New Lead Captured as the trigger event:
Trigger Event Configuration
You can use either a single video or an entire project of videos. Here we'll use a single video:
Trigger Event Test
Default trigger event test record will look like this:
You can edit the name and email to a real name if you'd like to help keep track that the data is going to the right place.
In this example we changed it and used this modified record:
Configure Circle as the Action Event
Action Event Setup
If not already connected to Circle from Zapier, you'll need to do the same as you did Spotlightr. Copy the API key from your Circle account by navigating to the main menu Developers >> Tokens >> Create token.
Then choose Zapier as the token type and name your API to whatever you want:
Copy your key and follow the directions from Zapier to connect to Circle:
Then choose Invite Member as the Action event:
Action Event Configuration:
Click the + button and choose email from the data set. Click the + button and choose First Name, then enter a space, then Last name from the data set.
Then choose the Community you would like the invitation sent from:
Action Event Test
You can then choose to skip or test this step. If you choose to test it, check to make sure the community member name and time of creation came thru properly.
Then you can check your Circle Audience and verify that the invitation was indeed sent. This may take a minute or two so be patient if you don't see it immediately:

Configure Opt-in Forms On Video(s)
Now you just need to make sure that opt-in forms are configured properly on the video(s) that you chose in the beginning of this process. For more info on that see our article on overlays and annotations.
If using an entire project of videos, be sure to add those videos to the project and configure the optin forms as well.
